Walt Disney World has 3 types of restaurants: Counter Service, Table Service and Signature Restaurants.
Counter Service restaurants are like typical fast food. You order at the cash register (or Mobile Order), receive your food on a tray, grab your condiments and find a table. While the quality is still better than your typical amusement park, you definitely don’t want to dine on Counter Service food for your entire trip! Some of my favorites:
PizzeRizzo at Hollywood Studios eat upstairs in the wedding reception room, it’s such a fun theme with great music! I may or may not have downloaded the playlist on my Spotify
Satu’li Canteen at Animal Kingdom-my all-time, must do FAV (see photo)
Yak & Yeti Local Foods Café at Animal Kingdom-good, greasy, cheap Chinese food
Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom
Yorkshire County Fish Shop at Epcot-are you a ketchup or a vinegar person?
Nothing at Magic Kingdom-I live off churros and popcorn
D’Luxe Burger Bar at Disney Springs
Blaze Pizza at Disney Springs
Polite Pig at Disney Springs
Table Service restaurants are similar, in quality, to a chain restaurant back home. You make a reservation, there’s a hostess stand, you have a server and about an hour to rest off your feet. It’s good to have at least one reservation each day of your trip so you can escape the crowds, the heat and recharge. Some of my favorites:
Epcot:
Via Napoli-amazing pizza (see photo)
Tutto Italia-italian
Coral Reef-seafood
Spice Road-mediterranean
San Angel Inn-Mexican
La Hacienda de San Angel-Mexican
Garden Grill-American
Hollywood Studios:
Sci-Fi Dine In-American
Roundup Rodeo-BBQ
50’s Prime Time-American
Mama Melrose-Italian
Animal Kingdom:
Yak & Yeti-chinese
Tusker House-buffet with American and African
Magic Kingdom:
Liberty Tree Tavern-Thanksgiving meal
Tony’s-italian
Disney Springs:
Homecoming
Resorts
Whispering Canyon Café at Wilderness Lodge
Ohana at Polynesian
Kona Café at Polynesian
Steakhouse 71 at Contemporary
Grand Floridian Café at Grand Floridian
Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge
Signature Restaurants are amazing restaurants and would be considered amazing in the "real world" as well. These are the restaurants for foodies. The food is high-quality, the service is impeccable and the prices are expensive. Signature Restaurants are found in the parks and at the resorts.
In the parks, there are no Dress Codes but, at the resorts, they prefer you to be cleaned up. 😊 Nothing too strict but you’ll mostly see collared shirts and khakis on men, sundresses or Resort Casual on women and kids are in dresses and nice shorts outfits. (see photo)
While these restaurants are considered Fine Dining, kids are very welcome and you will see families of all ages. You won’t see kids running around the restaurants, they will be behaved, but these aren’t “stuffy” experiences.
I strongly encourage you try to fit in at least one or two into your schedule! Some of my favorites:
Le Cellier at Epcot
Space 220 at Epcot
Hollywood Brown Derby at Hollywood Studios
Tiffins at Animal Kingdom
Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge
California Grill at the Contemporary
Citrico’s at the Grand Floridian
How many of these have you experienced? What’s on your bucket list? Let me know!
